The general aim is to defend the asylum seekers from the illegal acts of public administration in Rome ad to improve the level of rights guaranteed to asylum-seekers and refugees in Italy (and in Rome in particular) as far as actual procedures are concerned by preparing and filing legal pilot-cases;
The pilot-cases serve to raise awareness among policy makers, national, international and European institutions and public opinion about the risks that a large discretionary power in the hands of public officials in charge of procedures regarding fundamental rights like international protection can lead to negative effects for the rights of asylum-seekers, and attempt to contain this discretionary power.
These pilot-cases aim to facilitate the approval of legislative changes to the actual legal framework where possible.
